    Needed: Router Interface Down report

The Router Interface Down and Trunk Port Down issues exist.  However, most networks don't take the time to understand whether all the interface that are in up/down state should really be in that state.  So how about an interface down report that is based on the state of the interface over the last N days (default N=7?).

If the interface (or Trunk port) has been up anytime in the last N days and it is down today, then it appears in the report.  Some sites might like to go back 30 days instead of 7 days, thus making N a variable with a default setting.

I don't think this is possible using the existing report engine.  If it is, I'd like to see an example.

This is not currently possible via the customer report tools in 4.2.0

This is similar to the Port Saturation report that we have developed for switch interfaces, so we may have the data in NetMRI. A feature request will be submitted for this.

Re: Needed: Router Interface Down report

The origin of this request came after the snow we had here this past weekend.  After the snow was over, someone asked me to check to see if there were any interfaces that were still down that were up prior to the snow.  In a redundant network, you don't get calls about a down backup interface - until the primary goes down too.  I was able to answer it with some scripting on the CSV files from the Router and Trunk Port down issues from before and after the "snow event" and found two interfaces that were previously up but were still down.  But it was a messy task and took a while to accomplish with the CSVs.

That's what started my thinking on a report.
