    NetMRI Device Support List 4.0.2

    [PDF Version]

NetMRI uses a unique approach to SNMP data collection that allows it to support a wide range of network devices. This approach leverages the ability to gather SNMP data from any IP address that identifies itself as a network device (e.g., router, switch, WAP, etc) and supports standard SNMP network MIBs, such as the ARP, switch forwarding, interface, and route tables. Basic device support is sufficient for NetMRI to provide most of its standard features as well as many types of issue analysis. Other features like CPU and memory utilization analysis, visualization of neighbor relationships, VLAN analysis, detection of configuration changes and configuration file collection depend on NetMRI having enhanced support for the device.

There are two different levels of enhanced device support and each requires at least a small amount of software development work by Netcordia to achieve. The most fundamental type is called Full SNMP Support. It is achieved by configuring NetMRI to collect key pieces of device information as made available in the vendor’s proprietary SNMP MIBs. These MIBs are updated to the vendor’s most current version in each release of NetMRI. With Full SNMP Support implemented, NetMRI is able to take advantage of every capability that the specific device supports.

The highest level of enhanced device support is Full Configuration Support. This is achieved by configuring NetMRI to understand the device’s Command Line Interface (CLI) or Interactive Menu Interface (IMI) and execute the commands as necessary to perform the necessary functions. With Full Configuration Support implemented, NetMRI is able to collect and archive device configuration files, perform policy compliance analysis, and allow the execution of configuration scripts.

The network devices for which NetMRI is known to have enhanced support are listed on the pages that follow. Devices listed in the bold font have both Full Configuration Support and Full SNMP Support. Devices listed in the normal font have only Full SNMP Support. Devices accompanied by an asterisk (*) are supported for the current, and one prior version.

Please note that if NetMRI has enhanced support for a particular vendor, that enhanced support likely applies to other product families from that vendor besides just those listed here. If a product family you are interested in is not listed here, please contact the Netcordia Technical Assistance Center for information about how to request enhanced support.
