    snmpEngineID

Is the snmpEngineID discovered by the 'Discovery Diagnostic' tool meant to be the same as the snmpEngineID in the SNMP-FRAMEWORK-MIB::snmpEngineID ?  I've found they differ for the devices I examined.

    Re: snmpEngineID

We do not pull the SNMP Engine ID from the device MIB, we have found over the years that this variable is often not uniqe accross devices. We use this a unique identifier for devices, so Engine ID you see on the device viewer is a unique ID generated by the NetMRI software which is why you cannot find it in the device MIB.

    Re: snmpEngineID

I've found a couple of devices which apparently have the same snmpEngineID.

When I do a Discovery Diagnostic on them I get the message

***** IP ADDRESS 143.x.y.z FOUND ON DIFFERENT DEVICE WITH SAME snmpEngineID *****

How can I get round this?

    Thanks.

You can complain to the vendor who made the devices and failed to make those unique.

    Re: snmpEngineID

I should have clarified - it is the NetMRI 'snmpEngineID' that is identical. The 'real' SNMP Engine IDs of the devices are different.
