Chesapeake Computer Consultants, Inc. (CCCI ) and Cisco Systems have signed a strategic development agreement to address the growing security concerns of companies that give employees remote dial-in access to enterprise networks.
"As the leader in the remote access marketplace, we recognize the importance of addressing security requirements and issues facing our customers," said Dale Jantzen, product line manager for Cisco Access Servers in the company's Access Business Unit. "Through this relationship with CCCI, we plan to evaluate the increasing security needs and lead the industry in developing `best-of-breed' technologies to meet those needs."
According to the Gartner Group, a market research firm, approximately 30 million people will be telecommuting by the year 2000. Two factors are responsible for this projected growth.
First, more companies are adopting the "virtual office" concept, allowing employees to work from home. Second, with the aid of laptop computers and easy modem connections, our nation's workforce is becoming more mobile.
"Telecommuting, mobile users and enhanced enterprise network security is a fast-growing segment of the internetworking marketplace," said Terry Slattery, CCCI president. "We're excited about the opportunity to work closely with Cisco to create a new level of network access security."
The first result from the technology development agreement is CiscoSecure UNIX Server, which is featured in the article titled"Introducing CiscoSecure UNIX Server".
