Debugging Frame Relay PVCs

Bringing up new Frame Relay (FR) circuits is always a challenge. Between FR switch settings, DLCI addresses, LMI configuration, and basic connectivity issues, there are many things that can go wrong. One way to help troubleshoot a new connection is to enable full FR debugging on the router interface. The debug output shows detailed information about the FR connection as it communicates with the FR switch, including the DLCI address configured on the FR switch. Some telco people have found the information that the Cisco router outputs to be so valuable that they have begun using the Cisco 750 router as a diagnostic tool. Each FR technician has one and connects it to the FR circuit, turns on full debug, and verifies that the link and PVC are correctly configured.
