Tech Tip: Win95 Time Saver
If you have the need to change your TCP/IP configuration on your laptop, then you are all too familiar with the dreaded pop up box. You must restart your computer before the new settings will take effect. Do you want to restart your computer now? [Yes] [No] - You may be able to avoid this if your laptop supports "Suspend" mode. Answer [No] to the popup box, click on the "Start" menu button, then select "Suspend". When you wake your laptop up, (this function is model specific) your new TCP/IP configuration should reflect the new changes. If you need to make the same changes often, (ie. one configuration for the office LAN and one configuration for your home ISP dialup account) then try a great tool called "NetSwitcher" from J. W. Hance. It's available from www.netswitcher.com for a 15 day evaluation.
